Uno-X secured a coveted place in the UCI WorldTour following a nail-biting points battle with the French team Cofidis on Sunday 19 October. This achievement grants the Norwegian professional cycling team access to the world’s most prestigious races for the upcoming season.
The decisive moment came at the Veneto Classic, where Sakarias Koller Løland claimed his first professional victory, simultaneously ensuring that Uno-X will hold a WorldTour licence for the next three seasons.
The UCI WorldTour comprises a series of independent professional road races, with licences awarded to the top 18 teams in the global rankings. Holding such a licence guarantees participation in all major international races. As a result, Uno-X will, for the first time in its history, compete in all three of Europe’s Grand Tours next season: the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and La Vuelta.
Team manager Thor Hushovd commented on the victory: “Absolutely incredible! It’s been a real rollercoaster of a day, but it couldn’t have been decided in a better way.”
As proud sponsor of Uno-X, The J.J. Ugland Companies congratulate the Norwegian professional team on their promotion to the WorldTour and look forward to following them closely in the season ahead!
